Mahalla al-Kubra, the town in Egypt where I was arrested, is seeing protests again. This is at the
Ghazl al-Mahalla factory, Misr Spinning and Weaving (Misr = “Egypt”). The factory is where the protests I covered began — it’s the largest textile mill in the middle east and, as is often true of labor, a good barometor for the political climate.
